What is the papilloma virus?

It is a sexually transmitted virus that is widespread worldwide, with strains 16 and 18 being the most dangerous. Infection can be asymptomatic, or even give warts. It is associated with a variety of benign or malignant tumors.

The importance of prevention

4 out of 5 people are infected in their lifetime with at least 1 strain. About 70-80% of cervical and anal cancers are caused by preventable HPV strains.

The vaccine

In children up to 14 years of age, 2 doses are scheduled, 6 months apart. In individuals >15 years of age, the vaccination schedule is 3 doses.

Recombinant protein vaccine, adsorbed; recommended in both sexes, including for those who have suffered HPV-related injury. HPV vaccination safety studies include millions of people.

The vaccine is administered intramuscularly.

The most frequently indicated adverse reactions are pain, redness and induration at the injection site, malaise, fever, headache, and nausea.

Administration of the vaccine should be postponed in individuals with acute febrile infections.

Contraindications to HPV vaccine are hypersensitivity to any of the active ingredients, any of the excipients.

If pregnancy or lactation status is present, vaccination should be postponed due to lack of scientific studies.
