What are these diseases?

They are three diseases of viral origin, among the most common in childhood. Measles is characterized by a rash that reaches the whole body. Mumps causes swelling of the parotid glands, hence the common name "mumps." Rubella is characterized by macules.

The importance of prevention

The three diseases share an endemic pattern, which means they are constantly present in the community and pose a risk to susceptible individuals. High incidence has also been noted in international travelers to developing areas.

Priorix Tetra / Proquad (combined measles, mumps, rubella, varicella)

Vaccination involves 2 doses, with the booster administered at least 4 weeks after the first dose. The National Vaccination Plan calls for administration in children of the first dose between 12 and 15 months and booster between 5 and 6 years of age.

vaccine is composed of live, attenuated measles virus Enders Edmonston strain, mumps strain Jeryl Lynn™ (Level B), rubella strain Wistar RA 27/3.

It is typically administered subcutaneously, but can also be given by intramuscular injection.

The vaccine should be postponed if severe fever is present, while minor infections such as colds do not affect vaccination. Other contraindications include severe antibody or lymphocyte and phagocyte deficiencies, severe immunodepression, pregnancy, or recent immunoglobulin administration.
